~ OUR BELIEFS We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation and eternal life. We also believe that the choice of salvation is a personal decision which must be made by each individual to repent of their sins and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. Salvation is not inherited from our parents. It is a personal decision. (1 John 5:11-13; Revelation 3:20 and Romans 10:9-10.) ~ THE BIBLE We believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God. It is the authority and guide for the way we live and practice our faith in our relationship with God and one another. (2. Timothy 3:16-17) ~ OUR ACCESS TO GOD We believe that each Christian has direct access to God through our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. We do not go through a priest or any other medium to confess our sins or to pray to God. (Ephesians 2:14) ~ THE TWO ORDINANCES OF THE CHURCH (BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER) We believe that the Scriptures teach that Christian baptism is water immersion of a believer in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Immersion means that the body is completely covered by the water. We do not believe that baptism is required for salvation, but that it is symbolic of our faith and obedience to Christ. (Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38-39) We believe that the Lord’s Supper is an act of worship. The bread is an emblem of Jesus’ broken body. The wine represents his blood that was shed for our sins. When we observe the Lord’s Supper, it reminds us of the great price Jesus paid for the forgiveness of sins when he died on the Cross at Calvary for us. (1 Corinthians 11:26-28 and Acts 8:36-39) |
